The original airbox itself offers amazing power reserves. However, the standard air filter element really cuts off the air supply. The pores of the foam are even partially closed. So there is little joy and tuned engines do not get enough air. The mixture becomes greasy and your engine runs like a sack of nuts. The remedy here is the special Red Sponge Racing Filter from Malossi.
These high-tech parts use polyurethane foam with larger pore size. This increases the possible airflow considerably.

The combination of high-quality filter material in conjunction with the original air filter box results in a well-muffled intake noise and sufficient air for even heavily tuned engines.
